About the role Support transfusion medicine and haematology laboratory operations by ordering, receipting, rotating, and dispensing blood products in accordance with established protocols. Perform basic laboratory testing procedures under supervision and assist with the management of pathology samples to ensure timely and accurate processing. Take ownership of critical support tasks, including maintaining blood fridges across campus, managing consumables, and ensuring a clean, well-organised lab environment. Collaborate closely with scientific and technical staff, communicate effectively across teams, and seek guidance from senior colleagues to uphold best practice standards. Engage in ongoing education by attending scientific sessions and unit meetings and remain flexible to work rostered shifts to support the efficient functioning of the service. About you You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in pathology or medical laboratory science and bring hands-on experience in transfusion medicine and/or haematology within a fast-paced diagnostic setting. You’re confident with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office, combining tech skills with a strong focus on accuracy and adaptability. You approach problems with a methodical mindset and keen attention to detail, contributing to quality improvements and reliable lab operations. You’re a clear communicator with strong customer service skills, able to work effectively with clinical and technical staff in a collaborative environment. You understand and adhere to laboratory safety standards, policies, and legislative requirements, ensuring compliance and best practice in all aspects of your work. Why work at St Vincent’s?
