Technology (Systems & Network) Engineer Location: Melbourne, Australia (with travel to operational sites) Type: Perm (ideally) or Contract Position Overview: Join a leading utilities company as a Technology (Systems & Network) Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in delivering and supporting infrastructure across complex Operational Technology (OT) environments. This is a multifaceted role spanning server administration, networking, physical deployments, and cybersecurity uplift, supporting real-time systems across critical energy assets. You'll be part of a tight-knit, cross-functional OT team focused on modernising infrastructure and bridging the gap between legacy systems and new technology. Responsibilities: Provide hands-on technical leadership across networking and server infrastructure in field environments. Deliver configuration and support across Windows Server , Active Directory , VMware , SANs , and remote access tools (e.g. BeyondTrust). Lead network performance monitoring , security patching, and delivery of robust, secure architecture upgrades. Scope, install, and commission new compute and network systems , including physical rack and cabling work. Collaborate with the OT CyberSecurity team to design and deliver cyber uplift initiatives . Manage proactive documentation, reporting, and operational readiness across all supported platforms. Work closely with SCADA, site operations, and service delivery teams to minimise disruption and deliver robust outcomes - must have experience in SCADA Participate in a rotating on-call support roster and travel to operational generation sites as required. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Network Engineering, or related field. 5 years’ experience in systems or network engineering roles. Expertise in routing & switching (VLAN, OSPF, BGP, STP, Link Aggregation). Strong background with Microsoft platforms (AD, DNS, Group Policy), VMware , and SANs (Nimble, StoreOnce, 3PAR). Familiarity with Cisco ASA , Palo Alto , and other enterprise-grade firewalls. Experience with remote access , backup/recovery solutions , and OT/IT converged environments. Comfortable working in field-based and physically demanding environments. Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
