Working closely with our researchers and professional services teams, they provide strategic and operational financial support with budgets, planning and analysis, enabling us to achieve our mission - to improve the health and wellbeing of children through excellence in research. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in the planning, management, development and monitoring of the Institute’s accounting, financial analysis/reporting and treasury management to ensure optimal effectiveness. This role will assist in delivering high quality and timely budgeting and financial planning to achieve the Institute’s financial goals, as well as ensuring the delivery of a sustainable business model. No two days will be the same in this varied role but typically your tasks will include: Acting as a “strategic business partner” to organisational heads through the provision of professional advice, analytics and recommendations which assist planning and decision making. Ensuring the Finance team has a customer experience focus that delivers timely, reliable and value adding service and advice to Institute management and staff. Managing external audit relationships, leading the execution of the annual audit process and delivery of all statutory reporting obligations. Preparing and monitoring cashflow forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations. Driving innovation and continuous improvement of all finance and accounting systems, processes, procedures, budgeting, reporting, data management and analysis. Overseeing the management of fiscal reporting activities for the Institute and ensuring that all compliance, regulatory, legal, audit and governance requirements are fully satisfied. Based at Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this role will be permanent and offered on a Full time a basis. About You The ideal applicant will be an enthusiastic finance professional, who thrives under pressure whilst handling competing priorities. The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in cultivating meaningful relationships based on trust, along with: A Tertiary qualification in Commerce or Business and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; CPA Australia; or working towards membership. Significant experience in a financial, management or project accounting role. Significant skills, knowledge and experience in financial reporting, financial analysis and the provision of financial advice (including at the Board level). Excellent knowledge of best practice business management, financial reporting and accounting principles to support strategic planning and resource allocation. Demonstrated ability to drive and lead business improvement, innovation and continuous improvement to deliver the best service for the resources available; and continually seek more efficient ways of operating. Demonstrated business partnering skills and experience, including the capacity to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
