An Australian advanced engineering and manufacturing organisation developing cutting-edge technologies for critical industries is expanding its production team and is now hiring a Mechanical Assembly Technician to support the build, integration, and testing of complex mechanical systems and assemblies. In this role, you'll be responsible for assembling and integrating complex mechanical products from engineering designs through to testing. You'll interpret technical drawings, perform inspections, troubleshoot assembly issues, and work closely with engineers and production teams to deliver high-quality products. We're looking for someone who is mechanically minded, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in solving practical problems and building things right the first time. This is a full-time position based in Adelaide , working within a modern manufacturing environment supporting the development and production of highly engineered products. Key Responsibilities Assemble mechanical and electromechanical components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. Perform fitting, fastening, alignment, and integration of mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Conduct inspections and functional checks throughout the assembly process to ensure compliance with specifications. Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, working closely with engineering and production teams to resolve problems efficiently. Support prototype builds, product development activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate production records, build documentation, and quality documentation. Operate workshop tools, equipment, and measurement instruments safely and effectively. Assist with testing, commissioning, and validation activities as required. Contribute to maintaining a safe, organised, and high-performing manufacturing environment. Requirements Experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, fitting, maintenance, or a related hands-on technical role. Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with tools, equipment, and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation. Experience assembling precision mechanical components or complex equipment. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and workmanship. Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and rectify assembly issues. Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Australian Citizenship due to the nature of the work and eligibility requirements associated with the projects Desirable but Not Essential Trade qualification or Certificate III/IV in Engineering, Mechanical, Fitting & Machining, or a related field. Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, defence, mining, marine, or heavy industry. Experience with prototype builds, low-volume manufacturing, or R&D environments.
