Cosmetic Formulation Chemist – R&D Your Natural Products | Wollongong, NSW | Your Natural Products is an Australian contract manufacturer specialising in cosmetic, skincare, body, wellness and home fragrance products. Based in Wollongong, NSW, we work closely with established and emerging brands to develop and manufacture high-quality products from concept through to production. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Cosmetic Formulation Chemist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is innovative, highly organised and passionate about developing effective, commercially viable products. Key responsibilities Research and develop new cosmetic, skincare, body and personal care formulations. Review and improve existing formulations and manufacturing methods. Prepare laboratory samples and manage product development through scale-up and production. Research raw materials and liaise with suppliers to source innovative ingredients. Create compliant ingredient listings and support Australian and international regulatory requirements. Conduct and document stability, compatibility, performance and sensory testing. Complete manufacturing process validations and assist with troubleshooting during production. Prepare product dossiers, formula sheets, SOPs, master specifications, bills of materials and manufacturing instructions. Understanding of GMP Practices. Maintain accurate laboratory records, batch documentation and technical reports. Provide technical support to our production, manufacturing, quality and client service teams. Assist with technical client enquiries and product development meetings. Support the client team with customer enquiries. Stay informed about cosmetic trends, emerging ingredients and changing regulations. Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment. Qualifications and experience A Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science or a related qualification. A minimum of three years’ experience in cosmetic formulation or R&D, preferably within a contract manufacturing environment. Practical experience developing cosmetic and personal care products from laboratory samples through to commercial production. Sound knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation principles, stability testing and manufacturing processes. Understanding of Australian cosmetic regulations and ingredient compliance. International regulatory experience will be highly regarded. Excellent documentation, organisation and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, suppliers and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple development projects and priorities.
