Software / Application Development Sydney Contract Join a leading engineering team Hybrid working - 3 days in office Initial 6 month contract with long term visibility About the role: Join a leading financial services organisation delivering critical technology solutions that support core business operations. This role will see you working across enterprise mainframe platforms, designing, developing and maintaining high-quality applications. Responsibilities: Design, develop and maintain high-quality mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS and related technologies, delivering solutions that meet business requirements and coding standards. Analyse existing applications, troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements and provide Level 3 production support to ensure system stability and performance. Collaborate with developers, engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions, participating in code reviews, testing and Agile delivery practices. Take ownership of development activities from technical design through to implementation, while promoting secure development practices, continuous improvement and system reliability. What you'll bring Strong experience in Mainframe Development, ideally within enterprise environments. Strong experience developing with COBOL, CICS, Endevor, TSO, JCL and SUPRA-DB. Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions. Experience maintaining and supporting production-critical applications. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews and secure development. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
