Kairos Community College is seeking an organised and strategic Business Manager to oversee Finance, HR, Facilities, ICT, Governance, and Compliance across the College. This role is central to ensuring the College operates smoothly, sustainably, and in full alignment with regulatory and Board expectations. You will work closely with the Executive Principal and Board to strengthen operational capability, lead business improvement, and steward the College’s financial and governance systems during a period of growth and strategic development. About the Role The Business Manager is responsible for leading all non‑teaching operational functions of the College, ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and effective governance. This role provides strategic advice to the Executive Principal and Board, oversees critical business systems, and ensures the College’s operations support high‑quality educational delivery. This position is ideal for a school operations leader seeking a long‑term career pathway in executive school business management, with opportunities to contribute to strategic planning, capital projects, and organisational development. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership Lead day‑to‑day financial operations including accounts, payroll, reconciliations, and reporting. Prepare budgets, financial statements, and Board reporting. Oversee cashflow, forecasting, and statutory compliance (BAS, FBT, payroll tax). Maintain accurate financial records and coordinate audit preparation. Manage grants, acquittals, commercial agreements, and leases. Human Resources & Payroll Oversee staff records, compliance documentation, and induction processes. Provide guidance on Award interpretation, HR queries, and workforce planning. Support wellbeing, WHS, and staff engagement initiatives. Facilities, ICT & Operations Manage contractors, maintenance schedules, and facilities planning. Oversee asset registers, procurement, and contract administration. Support ICT licensing, access management, and operational systems. Compliance & Risk Management Maintain compliance registers and lead risk assessments, incident reporting, WHS processes, and policy reviews. Oversee regulatory reporting and audit requirements. Ensure alignment with child safety, education legislation, and College policies. Governance & Board Support Prepare Board and committee papers, agendas, and meeting logistics. Maintain governance documentation, registers, and compliance calendars. Support onboarding of new Board members and policy review cycles. Highly desirable: Experience as a Company Secretary or supporting Company Secretary functions (ASIC lodgements, registers, constitutional compliance, minute preparation, governance advisory). Qualifications & Requirements Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business, or related discipline (required). Experience in school or education‑sector finance/operations (highly regarded). Strong understanding of compliance in education settings. Experience with financial and school management systems. Demonstrated capability in governance, risk, and policy management. Company Secretary experience or governance institute training (highly desirable). Current Blue Card (Working With Children Check) or ability to obtain. Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
