Who You Are We're seeking an experienced Automation QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of mobile applications for a major retail client. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions across mobile platforms, supporting customer-facing experiences. You'll work closely with developers, product managers, designers, and delivery teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle and drive best practices in test automation. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for mobile applications Build and execute automated tests for React Native applications across both iOS and Android platforms Develop end-to-end, functional, regression, and integration test coverage using tools such as Playwright and Detox Collaborate with developers and product teams to define acceptance criteria and test strategies Identify, document, and track defects while working closely with engineering teams to resolve issues Perform exploratory and manual testing where required to complement automation coverage Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery practices Monitor test results, analyse failures, and improve test stability and reliability Validate APIs, backend integrations, and customer journeys including payments, loyalty, notifications, and account management Contribute to quality standards, testing processes, and automation best practices across the team Mentor team members and advocate for a quality-first engineering culture Stay current with emerging testing tools, frameworks, and quality engineering practices Requirements Strong commercial experience in Automation QA or Quality Engineering roles Proven experience testing mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms Hands-on experience with Detox for mobile test automation Experience using Playwright for end-to-end and cross-platform test automation Experience testing React Native applications Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design, and defect management Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites Knowledge of API testing and validation using RESTful services Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and mobile testing challenges Experience with performance, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and cross-functional teams Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to promote quality engineering best practices and mentor team members Experience within retail, eCommerce, loyalty, or payments domains
