Digital Design Lead | Local Government Contract | Lilydale VIC Take the lead on digital strategy and delivery for one of Victoria's most dynamic regional councils. Yarra Ranges Shire Council is seeking an experienced Digital Design Lead to join their Communications team on a contract basis — driving the evolution of their online channels, lifting the digital experience for residents, and providing expert guidance across the organisation. This is a substantive specialist role for someone who thrives at the intersection of digital strategy, web management, and data-driven communications. You'll have real scope to influence how Council communicates with its community online, with the backing of a values-driven organisation committed to innovation and continuous improvement. The Role Reporting to the Executive Officer – Communications, you'll take ownership of Council's internet and intranet platforms, leading ongoing improvements to functionality, visual design, and content quality. You'll build and manage digital campaigns — including campaign microsites — and use analytics to evaluate performance and inform decision-making across the communications function. Beyond the hands-on delivery, you'll play a key internal advisory role: supporting a network of content authors, advising senior managers on social media strategy and emerging digital tools, and ensuring Council meets its obligations under the Local Government Act and Disability Discrimination Act regarding online information provision. Key Responsibilities Manage and continuously improve Council's internet and intranet sites, with a focus on UX, visual quality, and content currency Build websites and microsites to support digital campaigns and community engagement initiatives Establish and maintain analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of digital communications; produce reports for leadership Provide strategic advice to senior management on social media, digital tools, content, and monitoring Support and upskill the internal content author group to keep online channels current and relevant Research trends and innovations in web best practice, analytics, and digital communications to keep Council's channels contemporary Ensure compliance with accessibility and legislative requirements for online content Key selection criteria: Qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Web Development, Multimedia or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated experience Proven experience managing and improving council or organisational websites and intranets Strong proficiency in Google Analytics or similar digital measurement platforms Hands-on experience developing and executing digital media campaigns Graphic design skills including HTML, Illustrator, and web content management systems Confidence advising and influencing senior stakeholders on digital strategy A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail If interested, please apply via seek.
