Bridgeworks Consulting is representing a major global apparel manufacturing group in the search for a Head of Bonding & Seamless Development . This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a new technical innovation centre focused on bonded and seamless garment construction. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, creating a capability that will support multiple factories, global brand partners, and future product innovation across one of the world's largest performance apparel manufacturing platforms. The Opportunity A significant investment is being made to establish a dedicated Bonding and Seamless Development & Innovation Centre in Bangladesh. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing the operation, selecting equipment, building the team, establishing technical standards, and creating an innovation pipeline that will influence product development across the organisation for years to come. This is not a factory production role. It is a greenfield technical leadership position focused on innovation, advanced garment construction, automation, capability building, and knowledge transfer across a global manufacturing network. Build and Lead the Innovation Centre Design the technical and operational framework for the new centre. Define equipment requirements, workflow, testing protocols, and quality standards. Support capital investment planning for bonding, welding, lamination, and automation technologies. Establish a high-performing technical development team. Drive Technical Innovation Develop a 3–5 year innovation roadmap. Evaluate emerging materials, bonding technologies, seamless construction techniques, and automation opportunities. Work closely with global brands and material suppliers on next-generation product concepts. Position the organisation as a leader in bonded and seamless garment innovation. Own Technical Development Lead development of bonded and seamless garments from concept through final sample. Oversee seam tape application, adhesives, lamination, welding, and advanced construction methods. Manage bonding equipment and process engineering activities. Drive costing optimisation and SMV improvements. Develop Organisational Capability Create structured training and knowledge-transfer programmes. Support manufacturing facilities with technical problem-solving and implementation. Establish best-practice standards across multiple factories. Build long-term technical capability rather than providing short-term fixes. Build Supplier and Partner Relationships Act as the technical interface with global bonding material suppliers. Evaluate adhesives, tapes, films, and construction technologies. Capture and embed supplier knowledge into internal capabilities. Critical Requirements Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in bonded garment construction, seamless garments, or advanced technical apparel manufacturing. Strong knowledge of seam tape technologies, adhesives, lamination, welding, and heat-bonding processes. Experience developing complete garments rather than individual components. Understanding of 2-layer and 3-layer seam tape applications. Experience with bonding machinery, automation systems, and process engineering. Ability to analyse garment costing and SMV data. Leadership Experience: Proven success building or leading a technical development, innovation, or R&D function. Experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing specialist technical teams. Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge across multiple manufacturing sites. Comfortable working with senior commercial stakeholders and international brand partners. Industry Background: Experience gained within one or more of the following sectors would be highly relevant: Outdoor apparel Performance sportswear Activewear Technical apparel Intimates Seamless garments Technical textiles Functional garment manufacturing Additional Advantages: Experience across South or Southeast Asia.
