We are currently seeking a Part-Time Assistant Chef to join the kitchen team at our Smiths Lane service, preparing healthy, nutritious meals and contributing to children’s wellbeing in a supportive early learning environment. You will work both independently and alongside the Centre Chef to ensure meals meet nutritional guidelines and dietary requirements. Shift times: Part-time hours, 25 hours a week. Key Responsibilities Assist with food preparation and meal service Wash, peel, and chop fruit and vegetables Prepare meals and snacks in line with nutrition guidelines Set up food and beverage trays for children Clean kitchen, food preparation areas, and utensils Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment Support allergy management and dietary requirements Ensure health and safety standards are upheld About You We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, and passionate about providing nutritious meals. Previous kitchen experience (essential) Experience in childcare or similar environment (highly regarded) Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain) Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices Ability to cater for allergies and dietary requirements Ability to work independently and maintain a clean workspace Excellent communication skills Positive and professional attitude Essential Requirements Current Working with Children Check First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training (or willingness to obtain) Commercial Cookery qualifications (Certificate III or higher) preferred but not essential Our Commitment Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children.
