The Company Our client is a commercial builder delivering a 4-level apartment project, with a strong focus on site safety, quality, coordination and subcontractor management. They are seeking a practical and proactive HSR to support the site team, promote safe work practices and help maintain a well-managed construction environment. The Role As the HSR, you will work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors and site workers to support safety across the project. This role will suit someone who is confident on site, communicates well with trades and understands the importance of strong safety systems, consultation and follow-through. Key Responsibilities: Promote safe work practices across the site Act as a point of contact for workers regarding safety concerns Assist with daily site inspections and hazard identification Support compliance with OH&S legislation, site safety plans and company procedures Review and monitor SWMS, permits and high-risk work activities Assist with toolbox meetings, pre-starts and safety discussions Follow up corrective actions and help ensure close-out Monitor housekeeping, access, egress and site presentation Support subcontractor compliance with site rules and safety requirements Assist with incident reporting and investigations where required Work closely with the Site Manager to maintain a positive safety culture Project Safety Focus: The project will involve a range of construction activities, including: Working at heights Scaffold installation and use Edge protection Formwork and concrete works Crane lifts and material handling Services rough-in and fit-off Plant and equipment movement Traffic and pedestrian management Manual handling and general housekeeping Skills & Experience Previous experience in a HSR, safety, leading hand or site-based role Experience on commercial, apartment or multi-level construction projects preferred Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements Ability to communicate effectively with trades, subcontractors and management Confident identifying hazards and raising safety concerns Practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach Strong attention to detail and follow-through Ability to support site delivery while maintaining safety standards Qualifications Construction White Card required HSR training preferred First Aid Working at Heights, EWP or Traffic Management tickets desirable Personal Attributes Approachable and confident on site Strong communicator Practical and hands-on Proactive with safety and housekeeping Calm under pressure Team-focused and reliable Able to build trust with trades and subcontractors Reporting Line This role reports to the Site Manager, with support from the Project Manager and HSEQ Manager where required.
