About You : Working towards CA or CPA Qualifications Bachelors of Business or Commerce with disciplines in Finance or Accounting Position Summary : The Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, FBT, and other compliance obligations in line with relevant accounting and tax standards, along with supporting seniors, managers and partners in various advisory services. This involves maintaining an appropriate level of service to clients and producing a high standard of work. The Accountant must be technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and relevant accounting standards, systems and processes and they will readily share their expertise with staff and colleagues. The Accountant is also responsible for meeting productivity and client budgets, providing feedback and guidance to junior staff members and providing value added services to clients. The Accountant will take full responsibility and ownership of the completion of allocated jobs and is effectively responsible for managing their own workflow under the direction of their Manager. Key Requirements : 1–4 years' experience within a public practice or professional accounting firm. Sound understanding of Australian taxation and accounting principles. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational and time management abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn new technologies and practice management systems quickly. Job Responsibility : Accounting and Compliance Prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, self-managed superannuation funds (where applicable), and individuals. Prepare and lodge income tax returns and other taxation compliance obligations. Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and payroll-related reporting. Assist with year-end accounting processes. Ensure compliance work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines. Client Service Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients. Respond to client queries in a timely and professional manner. Gather and review client information required to complete engagements. Assist clients with accounting software and bookkeeping matters, where required. Identify opportunities to improve client processes and outcomes. Advisory Support Assist senior accountants and managers with business advisory projects. Prepare management reports, cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial analysis. Support clients in understanding their financial performance and compliance obligations. Contribute to advisory engagements by providing accurate financial insights and recommendations. Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm. Participate in internal training and professional development programs.
