About You : Bachelor degree in Commerce/Business with an emphasis in Accounting CA or CPA commenced and near completion Position Summary : The Senior Accountant is responsible for the management, development and administration of a portfolio of clients under the direction of their Manager. This involves maintaining an appropriate level of service to clients and producing a high standard of work. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for delegating and reviewing work undertaken by junior team members. The Senior Accountant must be technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and accounting standards, systems and processes and they will readily share their expertise with staff and colleagues. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for meeting productivity and client budgets, providing feedback and guidance to junior staff members and providing value-added services to clients. The Senior Accountant will take full responsibility and ownership of the completion of allocated jobs and is effectively responsible for managing their own workflow under the direction of their Manager. This involves the planning, delegation and review of this work, the expectation is that they will be capable of passing on a completed assignment back to their Manager for review. Key Requirements : Minimum 4–7 years’ experience within a public practice/professional accounting firm. Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards. Experience reviewing work and managing client relationships. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with tax and practice management software. Job Responsibility : Client Management Manage a portfolio of business, investment, and individual clients across a range of industries. Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service. Act as a primary point of contact for day-to-day client matters. Identify opportunities to provide additional value through advisory and consulting services. Assist clients with business, taxation, and financial matters. Accounting & Compliance Prepare and review financial statements, income tax returns, and compliance obligations for companies, trusts, partnerships, self-managed superannuation funds (where applicable), and individuals. Ensure compliance work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines. Research and apply taxation legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Assist with complex tax matters, restructures, and business transactions. Identify tax planning opportunities and compliance risks. Advisory Services Prepare and analyse management reports, cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial performance reports. Assist clients in understanding financial results and key business drivers. Provide practical recommendations to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational performance. Support managers and directors with advisory projects and strategic initiatives. Team Collaboration Review work completed by accountants and graduate team members. Provide coaching, technical guidance, and on-the-job training. Support the professional development of junior staff. Assist with workflow management and delegation of tasks. Contribute to maintaining a collaborative and high-performing team culture. Practice Management Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously. Monitor budgets and ensure work is completed efficiently. Assist managers in meeting productivity, workflow, and client service objectives. Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies within the firm.
