This role involves the safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, generators and associated plant systems within a coal-fired generation environment. What You'll Do: Operating and monitoring plant and equipment to maintain safe, efficient production. Conducting routine operational checks and performing routine and defect maintenance activities on plant and equipment. Monitoring plant performance, identifying faults or potential issues and reporting them through maintenance management systems to facilitate timely corrective action. Responding to plant alarms and abnormal operating conditions, escalating issues to the appropriate operational personnel and supporting timely resolution. Isolate, test and restore plant equipment to ensure safe access for maintenance and asset management teams. Participating in incident investigations, including contributing to root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions. Operating standby plant and protection equipment in accordance with preventative maintenance programs. Maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records, logs and reports. Identifying, reporting and helping to minimise environmental hazards and incidents. Applying safe work practices, procedures and risk assessments, including the development and use of Task Based Risk Assessments (TBRAs). Participating in training and development activities to maintain and enhance operational skills and competencies. What You'll Bring: You are a safety focused and proactive with a strong technical background and a commitment to operational excellence. Ideally, you will have: Certificate III or IV in ESI Generation - Operations (or equivalent qualification). High Risk Licences in Boiler Advanced (BA) and Turbine Operations (TO) or equivalent. Previous experience in operations in a coal-fired or thermal power generation environment. A trade qualification, Certificate level qualification, or equivalent industry experience. An Associate Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded. Demonstrated experience in a technical, trade, operations or engineering role, preferably within a power generation, heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining or process plant environment. A sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, risk management processes and environmental compliance obligations. The ability to interpret and apply operational procedures, policies and standards to ensure safe and efficient plant operation. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify issues and contribute to practical solutions. A commitment to continuous learning, personal development and maintaining technical competency.
