Position Overview The Quality Assurance Officer (Primary Products) is responsible for ensuring that all fresh produce handled by the business meets established quality, food safety, and regulatory standards. The role involves conducting inspections, monitoring compliance across the supply chain, and implementing quality assurance systems to maintain product integrity. Key Responsibilities Conduct quality inspections of fresh produce at receiving, storage, and dispatch stages. Monitor compliance with food safety standards, including HACCP principles Perform quality audits across handling, storage, and transportation processes Identify defects, contamination risks, and non-conformities in primary products Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement measures Maintain quality assurance records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation Ensure compliance with Australian food safety, biosecurity, and industry regulations Liaise with suppliers, logistics teams, and internal staff to maintain quality standards Monitor temperature control, storage conditions, and product handling procedures Assist in developing and maintaining quality assurance procedures and systems Skills and Competencies Assist in developing and maintaining quality assurance procedures and systems Ability to identify quality defects and compliance risks Attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation Effective communication skills with suppliers and operational teams Qualifications and Experience Relevant Diploma in food science, agriculture, or a related field 3-years experience might substitute for former training at diploma level Minimum 12 months’ Experience in quality assurance, food safety, or fresh produce handling Knowledge of Australian food safety and biosecurity standards Working Conditions Work is primarily conducted in warehouse and produce handling environments May involve exposure to cold storage and fresh produce handling conditions Requires physical inspection of goods and movement within operational areas
