Exciting Financial Accountant Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the integrity of financial reporting through accurate month-end processes, reconciliations, compliance activities, and audit preparation, while also contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Month-End Close Lead and support the month-end accounting process, including preparation of journals, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports for management, including commentary and variance analysis. Financial Reporting & Compliance Prepare and submit statutory returns including BAS and IAS. Support the preparation of annual statutory financial statements. Assist with audit preparation, including provision of supporting documentation and liaison with external auditors. Budgeting & Forecasting Support Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes under the direction of the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance. Provide financial analysis and reporting support to assist with planning and decision-making. Grants & Financial Management Monitor and reconcile research grant distributions and maintain associated provision accounts. Ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting of grant-related transactions. Finance Support & Continuous Improvement Respond to finance-related queries and provide analysis and insights to internal stakeholders. Support accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, and bank reconciliations as required. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and finance projects. Assist with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis tasks as required. About You You are a motivated and detail-focused accounting professional with strong technical skills and a commitment to accurate financial reporting. You will bring: Experience in financial accounting, reporting, and month-end processes. CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion). Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience preparing or supporting BAS/IAS and audit processes. Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems. Excellent attention to detail and time management skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders. Why Join Us?
