Location: project located in Cooma and/or Goulburn Roster: Monday to Friday, FIFO or DIDO available, accommodation and flights covered Relocation Assistance: Available for candidates looking to relocate permanently Project: Major pumped hydro renewable energy infrastructure project Salary: Base salary Circa $180K /- Plus Super The Opportunity The Mechanical Project Engineer acts as the technical bridge between the engineering design teams and on site construction activities. The role ensures the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget by coordinating logistics, reviewing technical documentation, managing stakeholders, and supporting the successful execution of complex mechanical installation packages. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure projects while gaining exposure to large scale hydro and renewable energy construction. Key Responsibilities: Project Planning & Scheduling - Assist in developing construction programs, monitoring project progress, coordinating resources, and identifying potential delivery risks. Review mechanical designs and resolve technical issues that may impact installation activities. Technical Planning, Mechanical - Interpret mechanical engineering drawings, installation documentation, equipment specifications, and technical procedures. Develop a strong understanding of the mechanical scope and construction methodology. Work Package Development - Support project teams in planning labour, tooling, plant, materials, and subcontractor requirements required to successfully deliver mechanical installation works. Inventory & Materials Planning - Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure mechanical equipment, components, and materials are delivered in line with project schedules and construction milestones. Budget & Cost Management - Assist with tracking project costs, reviewing supplier claims and invoices, managing procurement activities, and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation. Quality & Compliance - Ensure all mechanical works comply with project specifications, quality requirements, safety standards, and environmental obligations. Participate in troubleshooting and technical resolution activities when required. Stakeholder Coordination - Collaborate with engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, site management, and client representatives to ensure smooth project delivery and effective resolution of technical challenges. Essential Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in project engineering, site engineering, or construction engineering roles within major infrastructure, energy, mining, industrial, or construction projects. Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, installation documentation, and engineering standards. Experience using project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project is highly regarded. Communication: Strong stakeholder management, problem solving, and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively in fast paced project environments. Commitment: Ability to work on a Monday to Friday roster based from either Cooma or Goulburn for the duration of the project. Why Apply?
