Principal Duties: The mechanical maintenance technician leads the production facility to ensure our systems and equipment are reliably operating. The technician will work to resolve production breakdowns and support the maintenance system by conducting root cause analysis to ensure they do not reoccur. They also play a key role in capital projects through equipment installations to improve reliability and output of the plant. When not required for maintenance breakdown work, maintenance planning or routine calibration and maintenance works, the mechanical technician will be required to assist on the production lines by understanding constraints and working with the team to achieve targets. Key responsibilities Timely rectification of production breakdowns, organising electrical support if required. Ensure maximum equipment uptime is achieved by completing effective and efficient mechanical preventative maintenance when production is not running on all production lines. Endorses excellent communication skills to manage safety issues, quality, day to day tasks, and escalations to your Team Leader. Ensure that all electrical work meets all company safety and housekeeping requirements and conforms to all relevant regulations by organising appropriate contractors with support from the HSEQ. Ensure maintenance and asset systems are up to date and liaising with the Operations Manager and Financial controller. Develop PMs with material requirements, activities and time to complete Training Plant Technicians to perform basic PMS Supporting the HSEQ on the calibration and maintenance schedules. Reviewing of and contribution to mechanical preventative maintenance strategy and spare parts list. Participate in and lead problem solving including 5Y, DMAIC. Shutdown maintenance and equipment overhauls and co-ordination of relevant contractors. Supporting the Supply Chain Manager with planning of mechanical related work. Coaching operators on equipment function / trouble shooting to improve productivity and minimise downtime. Ensuring 5S standards are maintained in the workshop and production areas. Experience and Competencies Safety emphasis with strong focus on process JSEA, SWMS. Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade or higher. Demonstratable understanding of or qualification in Pneumatics and Hydraulics. Cat A qualifications for electrical isolation and resets preferable or willing to complete. Experienced in conducting Root Cause Analysis. Experience in completing mechanical maintenance. Familiarity with CMMS. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and management, promoting a culture of engagement. To assist the delivery of HSEQ initiatives throughout the company and the management of HSEQ generally, by continuously improving standards and in contributing to the development and effective operations. Support warehouse and production plans, traffic management plans, safe systems of work and associated related risk management documentation. Actively participate in all HSEQ initiatives, including but not limited to safety observations, risk assessments, incident investigation. Ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness through compliance with all relevant Environment, Health and Safety, Quality standards and policies. Ensure all calibration and maintenance work is carried out to schedule to ensure compliance with local and federal rules and compliance. Ensure corrective actions are completed effectively and promptly to support the ongoing operational activities of the business whilst maintaining compliance. Reporting and Financial Management Spare parts management reporting and cycle count of maintenance parts. Conducting downtime reports and root causes against targets. Identify and drive identified efficiencies initiatives to realise improvements in downtime in conjunction with the Operations Manager and Team Leader Ensure shutdown works are on budget.
