ABOUT LYF Leading Youth Forward (LYF) is a completely volunteer-run organisation which provides a structured mentoring and development program to around 80 at-risk Perth teens in years 7 to 10. Teens are carefully matched with a mentor typically aged between 22 - 39, who provides one-on-one support and encouragement to build confidence, nurture personal growth and positively influence their teen at a critical stage in their life. We run five teen events a year, including one weekend-long camp and four ‘Big Days Out’. ABOUT THE ROLE The Publicity Manager is responsible for generating awareness for LYF and undertakes a range of communication activities to maintain and increase LYF’s public profile, reputation, and stakeholder engagement. They let the wider community know what we do, how awesome we are at doing it and where we need help. There are so many facets to LYF and each of them needs to be highlighted throughout the year - from our mentors, to the teens themselves, and all our awesome sponsors and supporters. Key duties Raise a positive public profile for LYF to promote our aims, objects, and achievements in the community Support recruitment of volunteers, teenagers, and strategic partners Plan, schedule and execute the Marketing and Communications strategy Website management and maintenance Manage LYF’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, e-Newsletters) for recruitment, promotion of volunteering / fundraising events, and general content throughout the year Work closely with the Fundraising team to raise LYF’s profile for Fundraising initiatives, developing collateral and communications where required Support the development of the Impact Report Work with the Vice President and LYF photographer to ensure Publicity approved images are captured, filed and distributed Create external and internal communications to recruit and retain volunteers and build the organisation’s profile Recommend publicity strategy to form part of overall strategic vision and mission Ensure LYF brand standards, including proofing of documents, are upheld Attend monthly committee meetings Qualities Time management Dedication and commitment Excellent communications skills (written and oral) Risk and reputation management Social media skills Graphic design skills Planning and logistics This role is perfect for you if… You have a passion and / or experience in any of the following: Marketing / Public Affairs / Publicity / Events / Media / Journalism / Photography / Commercial Media You can assemble and lead a team of people and are capable of delegating tasks You have a creative eye and love making things on Canva * Have a genuine will to make a difference to the lives of at-risk youth Expected time commitment: approximately 2 hours per week, and 3-5 hours per week in the lead up to Publicity/Fundraising events and Recruitment. The committee is all young adult volunteers aged 22-39, where the meeting is casual and good fun, and all are committed to the cause of helping at-risk youth. Training 1 hour committee induction and a 3 hour volunteer training.
