You’ll lead the development and execution of a consistent, top-down budgeting approach—ensuring alignment with the broader finance strategy while enabling divisions to deliver on their financial commitments. You bring: Proven experience in budgeting, financial planning and management accounting Strong understanding of financial governance, controls and frameworks Ability to interpret complex financial information and provide clear, strategic advice Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across diverse teams A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify issues and drive continuous improvement Resilience and adaptability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure environment Key knowledge and experience Substantial experience setting management accounting governance and controls, and working with stakeholders to operationalise and implement Substantial experience with management accounting and reporting risk identification and providing financial analysis and insights Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people. Essential requirements of the role Degree in accounting or finance discipline and membership of a recognised Australian professional accounting association Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
