We are a Wellness Retreat Centre (25 min drive from Civic) seeking a passionate, experienced and health conscious Chef/Cook to join our team. The role is providing lunch, dinner and healthy delicious snacks for 6-12 people. General hours are Monday to Friday 11am – 5pm with a longer day during the week to accommodate food shopping. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food nutrition, food prep, highly organised, and be able to cater for all dietary requirements. You will be responsible for preparing delicious and nutritious meals and snacks during the week, and advance prep some meals for the weekend along with ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and is well stocked. Must have own reliable vehicle. Responsibilities: Menu plan, prep, set up and serve quality lunches, dinners and nutritious treats for retreat centre guests and staff Preparing shopping lists and undertaking a weekly shop Ensure that all menu items are prepared to the highest standard and in a timely manner Maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation Ensure kitchen is kept clean, well-stocked, and organized at all times Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working order and well-maintained Ensure that food safety and hygiene practices are adhered to at all times Requirements: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef/Cook Good knowledge of different dietary requirements/restrictions and the ability to prepare good quality food catering to individual needs (vegetarian/vegan, paleo, dairy-free, food allergies, cultural and religious dietary requirements, etc.) Health-focused cooking experience in wellness, nutritional, or therapeutic food preparation is essential, keen to work in a therapeutic environment to support and foster change in people Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task Excellent communication skills Passion for cooking and creating new dishes The ideal candidate will also be able to bring other skill sets to the position, i.e. deliver classes on nutrition, is a personal trainer, has counselling skills, is an artist/musician, does yoga, etc. We offer competitive pay and a friendly retreat style setting with day-time/weekday hours.
