Developer Portal Architect (AWS | React | Serverless) Location: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Canberra Type: Contract 6 month with 2*6 months extensions Baseline manditory About the Role We are looking for a highly skilled Developer Portal Architect to lead the design and delivery of a modern, enterprise-scale developer portal. This platform will serve as the primary interface for external partners and internal teams to discover, subscribe to, and manage APIs. Built using React and Docusaurus , and powered by a serverless AWS backend , this role offers the opportunity to shape both frontend experience and backend architecture in a high-impact environment. Key Responsibilities Portal Architecture Lead end-to-end architecture design, including logical and physical solution views. Define component architecture across frontend, backend services, identity integration, API management, and workflow systems. Establish trust boundaries and produce architecture decision records (ADRs). Frontend & Technology Design Define SPA architecture using React and Docusaurus . Design API catalogue presentation, documentation structure, and navigation. Establish OpenAPI publishing, versioning, and rendering standards. Backend & Integration Design Architect a serverless backend using AWS Lambda and DynamoDB . Define data models covering developers, organisations, applications, and API access. Design onboarding, credential management, and workflow orchestration capabilities. Transition Planning Contribute to rollout and coexistence strategies with existing platforms. Design approaches to migrate users, credentials, and API subscriptions. Essential Experience Strong frontend architecture experience with React (or Angular/Vue) . Experience designing SPA hosting solutions on AWS (S3, CloudFront, ECS Fargate). Solid backend API design experience supporting SPAs. Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, token-based authentication, and secure browser patterns . Experience working with OpenAPI specifications and developer-facing documentation portals. Hands-on experience with AWS serverless architectures (Lambda, DynamoDB) . Ability to produce high-quality architecture artefacts (logical, physical, ADRs). Highly Desirable Experience with Docusaurus and developer portal platforms. Background in building API portals or developer experience platforms . Experience with content publishing workflows and documentation pipelines. Understanding of API onboarding and credential lifecycle management (e.g. DCR, API keys) .
