Work Structure - 8:6 - FIFO/DIDO defendant on location - Day and night shifts Key Responsibilities • Lead machine operator teams of up to 10 people. • Identify high-potential employees for promotion or leadership pathways, providing coaching and development opportunities. • Train new employees on company policies, equipment operation, and safety procedures. • Foster an inclusive, diverse, and positive workplace culture to enhance employee engagement and retention. • Ensure equipment is maintained for peak operational performance. • Monitor crew compliance with safety and operational procedures. • Analyse production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify and address performance gaps. • Recommend and implement process improvements to optimise safety, productivity, and product quality. • Consistently achieve or exceed performance targets. • Support Fleet Operations leadership in meeting financial targets, including labour, materials, travel, overhauls, and improvement projects. • Assist in planning and executing overhaul and field projects, providing input on repair or replacement decisions. • Oversee material purchasing and machine inventory to maintain authorised stock levels. • Ensure all required licences are current for personnel operating specialised equipment; coordinate inductions where necessary. • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts to manage service and quality expectations, maximise track access, and resolve issues proactively. • Collaborate with the Assistant Manager, Rail Grinding, and other stakeholders to recommend modifications to machines and equipment to drive quality and performance improvements. • Communicate effectively with both customers and employees, ensuring clarity of instructions and expectations. About You • A mechanical or electrical trade qualification (Desired). • Extensive knowledge of maintenance and servicing in a rail environment. • Proven leadership experience, with excellent communication and coaching skills to develop and engage teams. • Solid understanding of trackside safety standards, rules, and procedures. • Open C Class Licence.
