This is a hands-on supervision role responsible for supervising staff during shifts, maintaining service standards, and assisting with operational tasks to ensure smooth restaurant performance. The successful applicant will work closely with the Owner and supervise front-line staff to deliver high-quality food, excellent customer service, and compliance with health and safety standards. Shift Supervisor Shift supervisor manages work schedules, allocate tasks, and ensure there is sufficient staff for each shift. This duty requires excellent time organisation and decision-making skills. By effectively assigning tasks and supervising the work shift, they ensure that all aspects of store operations are covered. The supervisor's overall role is to communicate organisational needs, oversee employees' performance, provide guidance, support, identify development needs, and supervise the reciprocal relationship between staff and the organisation so that each is successful. Key Responsibilities The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for: Supervising staff during shifts, operational supervision, supervise and coordinate the activities of retail sales workers Training / induction support, training staff Preparing staff rosters , planning and preparing work schedules and assigning staff to specific duties Customer enquiries, escalated complaints, responding to customers inquiries and complaints Stock monitoring, ordering , taking inventory and ordering new stock Workplace safety procedures, ensuring safety and security procedures are enforced In-store marketing materials, promotions promoting and advertising the establishment’s goods and services Stock control stock levels, determining stock levels and maintaining records of stock levels Sales reporting, financial transactions, maintaining records of financial transactions Training, supervision, controlling, training and supervision of staff Workplace safety compliance, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations Food safety, council/health regulation compliance, ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean Stock and sales/financial recordkeeping, maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions Customer satisfaction, complaint escalation , conferring with customers to assess their satisfaction with meals and service Training/supervision, selecting, training and supervising staff Cash handling, accepting payment for goods and services Stocktakes, stock support, assisting with stock and participating in stocktakes Customer enquiries/service, determining customer requirements demonstrating and explaining goods and services Handling escalated complaints, customer relations, liaising and customers to identify and respond to customer expectations Promoting customer service standards, team performance, managing, motivating and developing staff providing customer services Operational direction during service, providing direction and feedback to team members Assisting with payroll timesheets, preparing payroll data from time sheets and other payroll records Maintaining employee payroll records, maintaining and updating files leave overtime Providing payroll information to managers/employees, providing information about payroll matters Checking deliveries, receiving goods, verifying incoming goods and maintaining, records of goods received Inventory-control-adjacent recordkeeping, maintaining prescribed records of goods received and despatched Supporting internal distribution/storage flow, arranging internal distribution of goods received Essential Requirements Minimum 12 months experience in a fast-paced hospitality or retail food environment Demonstrated supervisory or team supervision experience Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to supervise staff, workflows, and shift operations Knowledge of food safety and workplace health & safety practices Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required Secondary school or tertiary education completed.
