Realise your potential at yourtown . your opportunity Based at a confidential location in the Scenic Rim, the Women and Family Advocate provides individual, family and group support planning to women, young people and children who are accommodated at our Refuge. Our Domestic and Family Violence Refuge is a welcoming haven, providing a place of physical and emotional safety where women and children affected by Domestic and Family Violence can recover, rebuild and plan for a brighter future. We provide therapeutic support to help women and children break the cycle of violence and resettle into safe, affordable housing. Families have access to specialised counselling, child therapy, training in life skills, and links to health, legal and specialist services. Your role will include: • provide practical support and interventions to increase client’s safety and wellbeing during and post refuge • working through the lens of a multi-level practice framework in collaboration with the refuge team • risk assessment to identify and respond to identified risks and needs • develop and deliver group programs and workshops • apply theoretical knowledge in domestic violence, parenting, attachment and trauma informed care This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday. You will also participate in the after hours on-call roster and may be asked to participate in rotating weekend shifts (Saturday) what we are looking for We are looking for a flexible and adaptable individual who will work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve best practice outcomes for woman and families. You will bring: • passion, commitment and belief in women, children and young people • diploma level qualification in Social or Behavioural Sciences with at least 2 years direct experience in family and youth services, preferably with knowledge and experience in the domestic and family violence • demonstrated understanding of case management with assessment frameworks related to Child Protection, Parenting and Family Work, Family Violence, Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol issues • strong knowledge of current evidence-based practice, programs, policies, legislation and trends relevant to domestic/family violence issues • excellent communication, conflict resolution and report writing skills along with the ability to impart knowledge your benefits When you join yourtown you will be welcomed into a safe, inclusive, and diverse community and an established and reputable national organisation.
