About headspace Early Psychosis We provide comprehensive early intervention services to young people aged 12 to 25 years. About the role We are looking for a full-time Psychologist to join our Functional Recovery Team. The position is based in Southport but will provide services across the headspace Early Psychosis cluster. If required, the Functional Recovery Clinician is expected to work flexible hours. As a Clinician, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic services. You will contribute to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of individual and group therapy programs, including innovative approaches such as outdoor adventure-based interventions (e.g. surfing, kayaking and fishing). The role includes co-facilitating fitness and creative-based groups, alongside managing a 1:1 caseload, applying sound clinical judgement, participating in regular supervision, and supporting positive team functioning. You will also assist in maintaining effective relationships with community partners and external stakeholders to enhance client outcomes. We are specifically seeking a Psychologist who can support assessment and report writing within the Functional Recovery Team for headspace Early Psychosis services. This includes conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, contributing to formulation-driven care, and producing clinical reports that help guide treatment planning and recovery pathways. Demonstrated familiarity with early psychosis frameworks is desirable, and a commitment to delivering recovery-oriented, youth-friendly, and evidence-based interventions that promote meaningful functional outcomes. About you Essential Skills Approved qualifications in Psychology with the relevant mental health experience will also be considered. You must be eligible for membership with the relevant professional body such as AHPRA. Previous experience working as a Mental Health Clinician or similar. Foundational knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act including proposed reforms and the Children, Youth and Families Act and any other relevant legislation. Foundational knowledge of early psychosis and the developmental stages of young people and the impact that a first episode of psychosis has on the individual and significant others. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with team members, other professionals, and outside agencies. Ability to use relevant information technology and electronic client recording systems and data management tools. Open minded to alternative therapies such as adventure therapy. A commitment to cultural awareness and safety. Desirable Skills Certificate or above in personal training, group fitness instructor, yoga, or outdoor adventure skills, i.e., surf lifesaving, foundation surf coaching, skateboard coaching, rock climbing and belaying etc. Experience working with Indigenous people and communities Previous experience in Youth Mental Health.
