Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital We are recruiting qualified and unqualified Instrument Technicians for casual positions. The Instrument Technician is responsible for performing duties associated with processing, autoclaving and distributing sterile supplies to all internal and external customers. The Position Maintains levels of sterile supplies throughout the hospital, ensuring sterile supplies meet all published standards (with particular reference to AS 4187). Collects, cleans, processes, autoclaves and distributes all internal and external linen, instruments and special requirements as requested, in accordance with industry standards. Performs housekeeping duties within CSSD as per department procedures and protocols. Ensures all surgical instruments are maintained in excellent condition and problems or breakages are attended to immediately. Contributes to and is involved in Quality Activities at both unit and hospital levels and complete two Quality Activities annually. Contributes to and is involved with problem solving and change within CSSD. Customer focus, including – identifying and meeting customer needs, collation, evaluation & documentation of data and invoicing of all external orders, is always a priority. Liaise with the CSSD supervisor on all issues and concerns pertaining to quality, so that these may be referred to the Quality Co-Coordinator. Maintain excellent standard of care with internal and external customers. Regularly assist in the update of the policy / procedure manual. A Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services and CSSD and endoscopy experience is desirable. To succeed you will be able to prioritise and perform well under pressure and possess analytical and teamwork skills with a strong customer focus.
