About the role Join Are Media's Content team as a Managing Editor for Australian House & Garden in this permanent full-time position based in Sydney. You'll lead editorial workflows, project management and copy editing operations for Australia's number-one home-lifestyle title, overseeing content production that delivers expert advice and inspiration for every step of the homemaking journey. This role combines strategic project coordination with hands-on editorial excellence, while maintaining responsibility for the magazine's editorial standards and production workflows. Duties Manage comprehensive project timelines and editorial production schedules for Australian House & Garden Lead copy editing processes, ensuring content accuracy, style consistency, and brand voice alignment Coordinate cross-functional project teams including writers, photographers, stylists, and production staff Edit and refine home design features, expert advice articles, and lifestyle content Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and freelancer coordination Manage editorial workflows from concept development through to final publication Lead and mentor editorial team members and freelance contributors Collaborate with design teams to ensure seamless content integration and deadline adherence Monitor home and lifestyle trends to identify relevant content opportunities Maintain editorial calendars and ensure all project milestones are met Skills and experience Minimum 5 years of editorial experience in lifestyle publishing or home design media Strong project management skills with experience coordinating multiple editorial projects Exceptional copy editing and proofreading abilities with meticulous attention to detail Experience with editorial project management tools and content management systems Knowledge of home design, interior styling, and lifestyle publishing markets Proven track record in team leadership and freelancer management Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field Understanding of Australian home and lifestyle trends preferred Are Media is a proud member of Media Diversity Australia, a not-for-profit organisation working towards a media landscape that looks and sounds like Australia.
