EL1 Communications Manager 6-month non-ongoing contract, with a possible extension Canberra-based Baseline clearance is required The Role: Our federal government client is seeking a strategic EL1 Communications Manager to lead the delivery of communications and media initiatives. This is a delivery-focused role with responsibility for driving strategic communication outcomes, managing media engagement, and delivering high-profile events and campaigns. Key Duties: Develop and implement a contemporary communications plan aligned to organisational priorities. Provide strategic communication advice to senior leaders, including messaging, positioning and issue management. Lead planning and delivery of high-profile events such as conferences and stakeholder forums. Oversee branding, messaging and communication materials to ensure consistency and professionalism. Manage media engagement, including enquiries, media releases, talking points and executive support. Monitor media and external environments to identify emerging issues and provide timely advice. Oversee website, digital channels and social media to ensure content is current and effective. Analyse communication and digital performance, providing insights and recommendations. Develop stakeholder engagement strategies, including targeted approaches for key audiences. Lead internal communication initiatives and support organisational engagement activities. Deliver communication projects to agreed priorities, timelines and standards, including reporting and vendor management. Key Capabilities: Strong experience delivering strategic communications and media outcomes in complex environments. Proven ability to lead high-profile events and engagement activities. Ability to provide clear and confident advice to senior stakeholders. Highly developed written communication skills, including executive and media materials. Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build relationships. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure. Background in communications, media, public affairs or a related field. Demonstrated capability across strategic communications, media and event delivery.
