Full Time Aboriginal Health Team Leader position available located in Melbourne CBD with a Salary of $115,000.00 base plus Super. About the role The Aboriginal Health Team Leader is a key member of the Clinical Services Team of GEO Healthcare and will play an integral role in the successful transition and delivery of Primary Healthcare Services to public prisons in Victoria. The Team Leader, Aboriginal Health is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the GEO Healthcare Aboriginal Health Program and providing clinical leadership and support to the Aboriginal Health Practitioner, Aboriginal Health Worker and Aboriginal Health trainee workforce. The Team Leader, Aboriginal Health is responsible for supporting the delivery of culturally safe health care to First Nations people in prison by the Aboriginal Health team and the wider GEO Healthcare health services team. The position functions within a multidisciplinary team and is required to refer, communicate, and collaborate with other health professionals to advocate for the cultural and health needs of Aboriginal patients. Full- Time role working 5 days per week at the GEO Healthcare Head Office in Melbourne CBD, overseeing multiple locations across Victoria. Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will: Provide day-to-day support to Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Workers and trainees. Support, assist and mentor trainees onsite during placements. Support cultural safety during clinical appointments with a variety of health professionals. Assist with the achievement of Key Performance Measures, data collection and documentation audits. Collaborate with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations to ensure continuity of care for patients being released from custody. Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including Justice Health, Corrections Victoria and the Aboriginal Community Controlled Sector. Support the onboarding, orientation, education and provide practical guidance for new staff. Support delivery of local quality improvement initiatives. Assist the Manager, Aboriginal Health with statewide coverage and program delivery. Support the provision of healthcare with a focus on safety and quality to meet or exceed the National Safety and Quality Health Service. Standards. Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, the Governance, Risk and Compliance Manual and the Code of Conduct Essential: Will identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner or other qualified health professional with a minimum of four (4) years working in primary healthcare or clinical administration. Capacity to engage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the Aboriginal community and the State. Extensive understanding of the cultural and health needs of the Aboriginal community. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and support to achieve better health outcomes for Aboriginal people in prison. Ability to provide culturally competent and safe health care to Aboriginal people Other Requirements of the role: Valid and current full Australian driver’s licence. Ability to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners associated with the delivery of healthcare. Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
