SQL Senior/Principal DBA Milestone IT is representing a major enterprise client currently modernizing its core data platform. We need a heavyweight SQL DBA who can step in, assess current state vulnerabilities, and execute a high-availability uplift. This is not a "business as usual" role. You will be tasked with: Environment Auditing: Identifying and rectifying deep performance bottlenecks in high-concurrency environments. Architecture & Migration: Transitioning on-prem workloads to Azure SQL Managed Instances . Advanced Tuning: Optimization of query execution plans, indexing strategies, and tempdb contention. HA/DR Uplift: Refining and testing AlwaysOn Availability Groups and geo-replication. Principal Responsibilities: (For Principal level candidates) Providing technical leadership on data governance, security hardening, and mentor-led knowledge transfer to the permanent team. What You Bring Experience: 8 years of dedicated SQL Server experience (2016–2022). Technical Depth: Expert-level T-SQL, PowerShell automation, and deep internals knowledge. Cloud Mastery: Proven delivery of Azure SQL migrations or hybrid-cloud management. Performance Mindset: Ability to provide measurable ROI through system stabilization and cost optimization.
