Accredited to ISO 17025 (Testing) and ISO 17020 (Inspection), LMATS offers over 600 types of tests, including metallurgical and mechanical testing, failure investigations, chemical analysis, corrosion testing, advanced and conventional NDT, pressure vessel inspection, and asset integrity services. With a team of over 135 permanent staff and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement, LMATS is a trusted partner across the resources, oil and gas, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors. About the Role We are seeking a qualified Asset Integrity Engineer to join our Perth team based in Bibra Lake. In this role you will design, coordinate, and perform on-site and laboratory testing activities encompassing NDT, metallurgical analysis, and materials evaluation to ensure asset integrity and compliance with applicable codes and standards. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, liaise directly with clients to define test scopes, contribute to technical reporting, and provide guidance to junior staff — making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to grow within a NATA-accredited, nationally recognised organisation. Key Responsibilities • Design and coordinate on-site and laboratory testing activities in line with client and NATA requirements. • Perform mechanical and metallurgical tests, including specimen preparation (cutting, machining, grinding, polishing, etching) in accordance with LMATS procedures and relevant standards. • Select appropriate test methods, organise required equipment and record sheets, and define the limitations of each test method. • Manage and maintain laboratory testing equipment, including calibration and regular maintenance. • Conduct site inspections — including fabrication, third-party, and pressure vessel inspections — and liaise with clients to define test scopes. • Analyse failure data, perform root cause investigations, and provide technical recommendations to clients. • Interpret and evaluate test results against applicable codes, standards, and specifications. • Prepare and submit detailed technical reports documenting testing outcomes; check reports for accuracy prior to submission. • Supervise engineering and technical staff during project execution and guide trainees in performing tests in accordance with NATA requirements. • Oversee quality control and ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety requirements, and LMATS quality management systems. • Assist management with preparation of quotations, tenders, and contracts. • Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the organisation. Skills • Strong understanding of material properties and mechanical, metallurgical, and electronic principles. • Knowledge of advanced and conventional NDT techniques — including PAUT, TOFD, ECA, LRUT, UT, MT, PT, and RT — and their application to asset integrity assessment. • Proficiency in quality and safety management systems aligned with regulatory standards and NATA accreditation requirements. • Ability to apply basic metallurgical principles to plan work activities and translate codes, standards, and specifications into practical work instructions. • Familiarity with asset lifecycle management, corrosion mechanisms, root cause analysis, and fitness-for-purpose assessment. • Capable of managing technical documentation, calibration records, and detailed engineering reports. • Effective verbal and written communication skills for client liaison, team collaboration, and report preparation. • Strong computer literacy and time management skills with an ability to maintain accuracy across multiple concurrent projects. Experience • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in Non-Destructive Testing, materials engineering, or a closely related field. • Experience performing metallurgical and/or mechanical tests in a laboratory environment, preferably NATA-accredited. • Experience in third-party inspection, fabrication inspection, or pressure vessel inspection. • Demonstrated ability to interpret test results and produce accurate technical reports. • Willingness to travel to client sites across regional and interstate locations as required. Qualifications • Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or a closely related discipline. • AINDT certifications (UT, MT, RT, PT Level 2 ISO 9712) are highly regarded; candidates with the ability to obtain certification will also be considered. • Manual C-Class driver's licence (essential for travel to client sites). Important Eligibility Requirement To be considered for this role, applicants must have full-time, unrestricted working rights in Australia for the duration of the employment period. Applicants who do not hold unrestricted work rights will not be considered. This position is advertised by At Ease Solutions on behalf of LMATS Pty Ltd.
