About the Role We’re looking for an enthusiastic Workshop Technician who is ready to kick‑start their career in electronics and hands‑on assembly work. This is an ideal opportunity for someone fresh out of school or TAFE who enjoys building things, solving problems, and learning new technical skills. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll help assemble our environmental telemetry devices using components such as circuit boards, sensors, power packs, and enclosures. You’ll also support the smooth running of the workshop through stock control, materials handling, and general organisation. If you’re methodical, proactive, and eager to learn, you’ll thrive here. Key Responsibilities Assemble and test devices following established procedures and quality standards Program and configure units as required Assist with inventory management and stock control Work closely with workshop staff, engineers, and management Contribute ideas for improving processes and workflow Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment About Us Ontoto designs and manufactures environmental telemetry data loggers from our facility in Mittagong, in the beautiful Southern Highlands. About You You don’t need years of experience — just the right attitude and a genuine interest in electronics and hands‑on work. To succeed, you’ll bring: Strong practical problem‑solving skills Good communication and teamwork Interest in components, soldering, and electronics (experience helpful but not essential) Ability to read drawings or wiring diagrams (nice to have) Willingness to learn TIG welding, PCB/screen printing, or 3D printing Ability to work independently once trained Physical capability to stand for long periods and lift workshop items Desirable (but not required) Experience with Monday.com STM programming PicKit Debugger (Microchip) Knowledge of sensors or data loggers Engineering background Experience with Pick and Place machines Eligibility Applicants must be Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents .
