Full Time opportunity available for Aboriginal Health Manager located in Melbourne CBD with a Salary of $140,000.00 Super. About the role The Manager, Aboriginal Health is responsible for GEO Healthcare state-wide Aboriginal Health Programs and provides leadership and support to the Aboriginal Health Team Leader, Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW) and Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) workforce. The Manager, Aboriginal Health is responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with Aboriginal controlled training organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to: (a) Enhance the capacity and cultural safety of staff to provide healthcare to Aboriginal people in custody and (b) To ensure the provision of culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal people in GEO facilities and upon release. This position will be 5 days per week in office, located at GEO Healthcare Head Office in Melbourne, Victoria. The position will be expected to travel to all GEO Healthcare locations. Skills and Experience, t he ideal candidate will have: Essential: Will identity as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner or other qualified health professional with a minimum of four (4) years working in primary healthcare or clinical administration. Capacity to engage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the Aboriginal community and the State. Extensive understanding of the cultural and health needs of the Aboriginal community. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and support to achieve better health outcomes for Aboriginal people in prison. Other Requirements of the role: Valid and current full Australian driver’s licence. Ability to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners associated with the delivery of healthcare. Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
