Job description Pay rate: $47 an hour Job type: Contract Hours of work: 20 hours a week Work base: Canberra Supervisor/manager: Senior Adviser Position Overview The office of Senator Steph Hodgins-May is seeking expressions of interest for a contract-based Social Media and Content Producer to manage digital channels, communicate the Senator’s parliamentary and campaign work, build public engagement, and support progressive political outcomes. The role has a strong focus on content production, including videography, video editing, graphic design, and general digital campaign communications. The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Adviser and broader team, including the Campaigns Lead, to ensure consistent, high-quality, and high-impact digital output across platforms. The position is based in the Senator’s Canberra office at Parliament House. The rest of the team is primarily based in Melbourne, with regular travel to Canberra during sitting weeks. Responsibilities The Social Media and Content Producer will be tasked with: Creating timely and engaging content, including: Filming and editing short-form video content Designing graphics for digital platforms Writing clear and engaging copy for social media Identifying emerging digital opportunities and platform trends Developing and supporting communications strategy, including: Contributing to social media strategy development, implementation, and monitoring Supporting digital and print marketing Managing digital channels and community engagement, including: Monitoring the Senator’s social media accounts Scheduling and publishing content across platforms Responding to messages and comments in a timely and appropriate manner Ensuring all content meets accessibility standards Contributing to team operations and workplace culture, including: Identifying and escalating issues where appropriate Supporting a safe, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture Maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, policies, and procedures Selection criteria Essential: Demonstrated skills in video production and photography, with experience using CapCut (or similar tools) Graphic design experience using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent software) Proven experience in digital communications, campaigning, and social media content creation, preferably with a portfolio or links to prior examples of work. Strong attention to detail Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines Ability to give and receive feedback Understanding of the Australian political and media landscape Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Australian Greens’ principles and policies Desirable: Experience in activism, community organisations, or progressive political campaigns, including prior work with the Greens or aligned organisations Additional information As this is a contracted role, the successful candidate will need a valid ABN. Hours of work are flexible, with some weeks potentially requiring additional hours.
