Job description Ngarrariyal Aboriginal Corporation (NAC), part of the Gumatj Group, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next phase. The Gumatj Group is a Yolŋu-owned collective of organisations based in Gunyangara in North-East Arnhem Land, with a strong focus on economic development, land management, and community outcomes. This is a full-time, on-the-ground leadership role based in Nhulunbuy in North-East Arnhem Land, working closely with and reporting directly to the Board. This position requires a permanent commitment to living in Nhulunbuy. FIFO or remote arrangements are not available. About the role The CEO is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of the organisation, ensuring that NAC operates with strong governance, financial integrity, and alignment with the priorities of its members and Board. Key responsibilities include: Providing strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the organisation Leading the implementation of the organisation’s current Master Plan, translating strategic priorities into practical, on-the-ground outcomes Supporting and implementing Board decisions with integrity and clarity Managing stakeholder relationships across community, government, and partners Ensuring high standards of governance, compliance, and financial management About you This role requires a particular kind of leader. Technical capability matters, but personal qualities will determine success.
