The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Datacentre Infrastructure Engineer to join our Cloud and Infrastructure Services team. You will lead a small physical infrastructure team, delivering integrated on premises and hybrid cloud compute and storage services. The role focuses on developing, securing, and optimising datacentre environments, supporting backup and disaster recovery, collaborating with vendors, and driving continuous improvement to ensure reliable, high‑performing IT services. About you You are an experienced IT professional with a proven ability to lead teams and manage vendors to deliver resilient compute and storage services. You have strong knowledge of hybrid cloud environments, including AWS, and hands‑on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware, Windows, and Linux. You value process improvement, produce high‑quality documentation, and communicate clearly to engage stakeholders and resolve issues effectively. Educational Qualifications / Licences A certification in ICT or tertiary education aligning with management and maintenance of ICT Infrastructure. Desirable: AWS and or Azure certification in a relevant field. Current Drivers’ Licence. Special Conditions A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years. Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
