Join our client’s team as a skilled Service Technician Opportunity to work in a dynamic technical environment Build your career with ongoing professional development Service Technician – Sliding Gates (Automated & Manual) Position Overview The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and carrying out preventative maintenance on automated and manual sliding gate systems . This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently on customer sites. The technician ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard. Key Responsibilities Fault‑finding and diagnostics on automated and manual sliding gates, including motors, control boards, sensors, rollers, tracks, and safety devices. Repairing and replacing components such as motors, gearboxes, limit switches, wiring, rollers, guides, and structural hardware. Servicing and preventative maintenance , including lubrication, alignment checks, tension adjustments, and safety testing. Electrical troubleshooting of low‑voltage systems, control panels, photocells, keypads, access control interfaces, and safety edges. Mechanical repairs including track alignment, gate straightening, welding (if applicable), and hardware replacement. Installation support for new gate motors, automation kits, and accessories when required. Customer communication , including explaining faults, repair options, and maintenance recommendations. Completing service reports with accurate notes, parts used, and future recommendations. Ensuring compliance with Australian safety standards and company procedures. Maintaining tools, equipment, and service vehicle in clean and safe working order. Skills & Experience Experience servicing automated gate systems , industrial doors, access control, or similar mechanical/electrical equipment. Strong fault‑finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems. Understanding of low‑voltage wiring , relays, limit switches, and motor control. Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Competence with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Welding or fabrication skills (advantageous but not essential). Valid driver’s licence. White Card (preferred). Any relevant electrical or mechanical trade qualification (advantageous). Personal Attributes Strong problem‑solver who enjoys technical challenges.
