Due to the ongoing operational needs of the business, we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. About the Role The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting food in accordance with the restaurant’s menu, recipes and quality standards. The Cook will assist with day-to-day kitchen operations, food preparation, stock control, food safety compliance and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment. This role requires a reliable and motivated person who can work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen and contribute positively to the smooth operation of the restaurant. Key Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to perform the following duties: Prepare, cook and present a variety of dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s menu, recipes and quality standards. Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, slicing, portioning, marinating, seasoning and organising food items before service. Cook meals using a range of cooking methods, including grilling, frying, baking, roasting, steaming, boiling and sautéing. Ensure dishes are prepared and served in a timely manner during breakfast, lunch, dinner and other service periods. Maintain consistency in food quality, portion size, taste, temperature, texture and presentation. Assist with menu planning, food preparation schedules and daily kitchen production requirements. Check the freshness and quality of ingredients before use. Monitor stock levels and advise management when ingredients, supplies or kitchen items need to be ordered. Assist with receiving, checking, storing and rotating food deliveries. Ensure all food is stored correctly in accordance with food safety requirements, including labelling, dating and stock rotation. Implement food preservation and waste reduction practices to maintain freshness and minimise unnecessary loss. Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen, including workstations, storage areas, equipment and utensils. Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment and food preparation areas before, during and after service. Follow all food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures. Assist with maintaining compliance with relevant food safety standards and internal kitchen procedures. Work cooperatively with chefs, kitchen staff, front-of-house staff and management to ensure efficient service. Assist in training, guiding and supervising junior kitchen staff where required. Report any equipment faults, food quality concerns, safety hazards or operational issues to management. Assist with catering, special events, seasonal menus or promotional food offerings where required. Perform other reasonable kitchen duties as directed by management. Required Qualifications and Experience Applicants must have: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification. At least 1 year of relevant work experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role. Demonstrated experience in preparing and cooking meals in a restaurant, café or similar hospitality environment. Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and commercial kitchen operations. Understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements. The employee may be required to work on a rotating roster, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, public holidays and split shifts depending on business requirements.
