We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and enthusiastic Cook to join our kitchen team. Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, organize, and coordinate daily food preparation activities to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service. Prepare, cook, season, and present a variety of dishes in accordance with menu requirements, recipes, and customer orders, including breakfast, brunch, lunch items, pastries, and desserts. Portion food and cook using various methods such as grilling, frying, roasting, baking, steaming, and sautéing. Check the quality of raw ingredients and finished dishes to ensure freshness, consistency, and presentation standards are maintained. Ensure all food preparation and cooking activities comply with food safety legislation, hygiene regulations, and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements. Monitor stock levels, rotate stock, store ingredients correctly, and notify management of ordering requirements to minimize shortages and wastage. Receive, inspect, and store deliveries of food supplies to ensure quality standards are met. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen work areas, equipment, utensils, and storage areas in accordance with health regulations. Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance or repair requirements promptly. Assist in controlling food costs through portion control, efficient use of ingredients, and minimization of waste. Resolve kitchen operational issues promptly to ensure smooth workflow and uninterrupted service. Perform other duties consistent with the role of Cook. Skills and Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cook in a similar commercial kitchen or hospitality environment. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or higher relevant qualification in Culinary Arts or Kitchen Operations. Strong knowledge of food hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements. Ability to assist in supervising, guiding, and supporting kitchen staff in a busy commercial kitchen environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced kitchen setting. Well-developed culinary skills with attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and portion control. Effective communication and teamwork skills to ensure smooth coordination within the kitchen and with front-of-house staff. Ability to maintain consistency, quality, and performance standards under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
