In this critical field- based role, you'll help protect essentials gas transmission assets across Victorica by monitoring pipeline corridors, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring on-site works meet strict safety and compliance standards. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Pipeline Patrol Officer, you will: Patrol assigned pipeline routes daily and identify any access or security issues Monitor external works within 3m of transmission assets to ensure compliance Report and record safety breaches, infringements and site alterations Liaise with property owners, contractors, councils, and clients Communicate daily/weekly updates to the Pipeline Security Coordinator Attend various locations after hours as part of a standby roster Participate in toolbox meetings, safety initiatives and required training Support trainees and contribute to a positive safety culture This role is essential in maintaining the security, integrity and safety of Victoria’s gas transmission network . WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Experience & Knowledge Minimum 5 years’ industry or related experience Gas pipeline experience, including patrol and inspection (highly regarded) Strong understanding of AS/NZ/ISO standards and Victorian Gas Industry legislation Demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and quality principles Ability to assess hazards, identify risks, and report incidents accurately Mandatory Requirements Construction Induction (White Card) First Aid Certificate First Attack Firefighting Pipeline patrol/inspection training (or willingness to obtain) Current Driver Licence WHY DOWNER Joining Downer means becoming part of a supportive and trusted team that plays a vital role in keeping communities safe and connected.
