About the role We are looking for a Principal Traffic & Transport Consultant to join our Brisbane and Sydney teams, working flexibly from our water-side offices in both cities. This is a full time position ideally, however we will consider applications from those looking to work part time. This is a role for someone who has built strong technical credentials and is ready to take on broader leadership responsibilities while staying closely involved in the technical work. You will direct and deliver projects with a high degree of independence, provide technical leadership across the team's work, and play an active role in growing client relationships and pursuing new opportunities. Your work will span a diverse mix of strategic and site-specific projects for private developers, government agencies, and regulatory bodies across Australia and internationally. Our clients include major retail and commercial property groups, residential developers, local and state government, and infrastructure delivery agencies. At a Principal level, you will combine hands-on technical contribution with leadership across the team: Directing projects from inception through to delivery, with responsibility for scope, program, budget, and quality Providing senior review and quality assurance across the team's outputs Acting as a trusted advisor to clients and regulatory authorities, including representing SLR at stakeholder forums, council meetings, and agency briefings Growing and maintaining client relationships, and identifying opportunities to extend the work we do for existing clients or open doors with new ones Leading the preparation of fee proposals and tender submissions Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level team members, building capability across the team Working closely with other discipline leads within SLR to bring multi-disciplinary solutions to complex projects You will bring depth of experience across one or more of the following areas, and an ability to lead project teams delivering work across the others: Traffic engineering, design, and road safety Transport modelling and network analysis, from intersection-level through to corridor and strategic assessments Traffic impact assessment and development-related transport advisory Transport planning across active, public, and freight modes Construction traffic management Expert witness and tribunal advice Breadth of experience is valued, but so is depth.
