Netbay Internet Pty Ltd is seeking a technically proficient and field-oriented Telecommunications Engineer to support the design, deployment, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of telecommunications systems across a range of commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. This role is suited to an experienced professional with hands-on capabilities in fibre optic systems, wireless communication infrastructure, structured cabling, and communication equipment integration in real-world operating environments. Key Responsibilities Design, implement and maintain telecommunications systems, including fibre optic, wireless, and structured communication infrastructure, to support reliable and efficient service delivery. Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to determine cable routing, equipment placement, signal coverage, and system configuration requirements based on project specifications and site conditions. Install, configure, test and commission telecommunications equipment and communication links, including optical terminals, switches, routers, wireless access devices, and related communication system components. Support fibre optic deployment activities, including cable installation, termination coordination, link verification, and testing using relevant telecommunications tools and methods. Analyse communication system performance, signal interference, transmission stability, and wireless coverage, and implement technical adjustments to improve system reliability and operational efficiency. Troubleshoot faults affecting communication links, signal quality, device connectivity, and overall system performance through on-site diagnostics, technical analysis, and corrective action. Coordinate and supervise on-site installation activities to ensure works are carried out in accordance with technical drawings, project requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations. Collaborate with relevant technical teams to support the integration, operation, and ongoing maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure and related systems. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including network and system diagrams, installation records, testing reports, equipment configurations, and operation manuals. Assist in the preparation of technical solutions, implementation plans, and project proposals for new telecommunications works, including equipment selection, installation methodology, and compliance considerations. Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering or a closely related discipline. At least 5 years of relevant experience in telecommunications system design, deployment, testing, commissioning, or maintenance. Strong understanding of fibre optic systems, wireless communication technologies, structured cabling systems, signal transmission principles, and telecommunications safety standards. Experience using relevant telecommunications testing and diagnostic tools. Proven ability to work in site-based environments and manage technical implementation, troubleshooting, and system optimisation activities. Strong communication and coordination skills when working with technical teams, subcontractors, and clients.
