As we continue to grow our generation portfolio, we’re seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our high-performing Assets and Generation team in Brisbane. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Projects , this role provides technical leadership and engineering support across Shell Energy’s generation and production assets spanning gas generation, storage, and renewables (solar) . You’ll be instrumental in maintaining asset reliability, driving project delivery, and supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of critical infrastructure. With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include: Provide high-quality electrical engineering support across Shell Energy operated assets. Interface with AEMO, network service providers, and regulatory bodies on electrical matters impacting grid stability and generator performance. Manage engineering risks through compliance and performance monitoring programs to ensure alignment with NEM processes (e.g. generator performance standards, protection setting changes, AEMO model changes). Support site operational teams with testing programs for generating unit performance and compliance. Oversee electrical design and approval for capital works, upgrades and maintenance of existing assets, including gas turbine major overhauls. Contribute to the development and integration of new assets into the Shell Energy portfolio. Offer senior-level input into generator asset management and life-extension planning. Scope, engage, and manage external contractors and engineering consultants. Build strong working relationships with Equipment OEMs, AEMO, and NSPs. Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role: RPEQ registration (or eligibility to obtain within 4 months of commencement). Experience within the Australian energy sector and knowledge of power generation market rules and regulations (required). Experience in delivery of plant alterations according to NER 5.3.9 processes (highly desirable). Experience in testing and monitoring plant performance for compliance with generator performance standards (highly desirable). Experience with generating plant and heavy electrical systems in operations and maintenance environments. Familiar with plant control systems hardware, protocols, logic and fault-finding. (Siemens PCS7, T3000, or Yokogawa preferred). Ability to plan and manage maintenance activities and capital upgrades. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail. Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.
