The Purpose: Data is at the core of everything we do from payments to identity. This role is critical to ensuring that data is trusted, governed, and ready to power the next generation of payment innovation. You’ll shape how AP manages one of its most important assets, end to end You’ll establish and scale enterprise-wide data governance at AP setting the standards, operating model and cultural shift needed to treat data as a critical asset. You won’t just design frameworks, you’ll embed them. You’ll bring clarity to ownership, improve data quality at scale, and ensure governance drives real business outcomes, not just compliance. Responsibilities of the role will cover the following key areas: Enterprise Data Governance Strategy – Define and evolve the framework, maturity roadmap and target operating model aligned to business strategy Ownership & Accountability – Stand up clear data ownership and stewardship across the enterprise, with defined accountability for critical data Data Quality at Scale – Establish measurable data quality practices, monitor critical data elements, and lead remediation that sticks Metadata & Lineage – Bring transparency to data through strong metadata, business glossary, and lineage across key datasets Lifecycle Management – Define and enforce standards for retention, archival, and disposal Regulatory Alignment – Embed governance aligned to CPS230, CPS234, Privacy Act, CDR and broader risk frameworks Risk & Control Integration – Ensure data governance is tightly integrated with enterprise risk and information security controls Stewardship Enablement – Uplift the organisation through tools, training and scalable governance practices Platform Integration – Embed governance into core platforms (e.g. Snowflake), projects and BAU delivery Executive Visibility – Drive governance forums, reporting, and insights that influence senior decision-making The skills & knowledge you need to have: 5 years in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Risk roles Proven experience in financial services, payments, or regulated environments Strong grounding in frameworks like DAMA DMBoK, and regulatory obligations Experience implementing data stewardship and business-owned governance models Hands-on with tools such as Snowflake, Collibra, Informatica Strong capability in data quality, metadata, lineage, and lifecycle management Ability to influence, challenge, and bring stakeholders on the journey What’s Next: At AP, we believe in the power of passion, pride, and purpose.
