APS4 Claims Support Officer 12-month contract, with a possible extension. Brisbane or Perth-based Must hold a Baseline Clearance The Role: Our Federal Government client is seeking a Claims Support Officer to support the management of complex and sensitive claims. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage sensitive and complex information while delivering professional and empathetic client service. Key Duties: Claims and Client Support Receive, register, and process compensation claims in accordance with relevant legislation and policy. Manage inbound and outbound calls, responding to enquiries in a professional and respectful manner. Communicate with clients and authorised representatives via written correspondence to request information, clarify details, and provide claim updates. Record and Information Management Create, update, and maintain accurate client records across multiple case management systems. Research, analyse, and interpret complex client information to identify material relevant to claims and entitlements. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with information management requirements. Assessment and Processing Conduct initial assessments of eligibility for compensation and benefits. Clearly document assessments and outcomes for referral to delegates. Process and approve invoices and reimbursements associated with claims under assessment. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to support effective decision‑making. Provide guidance and informal support to new staff as required. Contribute to improvements in processes, systems, and best practice initiatives. Key Capabilities: Technical and Professional Skills Strong understanding of legislative and policy frameworks in a regulated environment (government or similar). Demonstrated ability to assess detailed and sensitive information accurately. High‑level records and information management skills with strong attention to detail. Confidence working across multiple IT systems simultaneously. Communication and Interpersonal Skills Professional, empathetic approach when dealing with vulnerable clients. Ability to clearly explain complex processes both verbally and in writing. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
