About the role Fibre Network Design Team Leader is responsible and accountable to lead day-to-day team operations and performance while owning the end-to-end planning and design of fibre routes that support new services, network upgrades and ongoing capacity management. Reporting to the Head of Fibre Network Design, you will manage a team of fibre network design professionals, providing coaching, technical direction and capability development, and coordinating internal teams, contractors and vendors to ensure buildable, resilient designs are delivered to quality and schedule. This includes the responsibility of managing business deliverables for all projects nationally and must ensure to meet business objectives and KPI’s. What you'll be responsible for Leadership & team operations Own the management of day-to-day team operations for a team of design professionals, including prioritisation, resourcing and issue resolution, to achieve performance targets and maintain outcomes. Own the development of team goals, plans and KPIs aligned to business strategy, and manage execution to consistently meet or exceed objectives. Coach and mentor a team of cross-functional designers to deliver. Deliver coaching and capability development through joint reviews, skills sessions and structured feedback to lift individual performance and build role specific competence. Track and report team performance metrics and trends, implementing corrective actions to close performance gaps and improve outcomes Ensure to meet KPI and SLAs for this role Planning & design Own and oversee the end-to-end planning and design of fibre routes and circuits for new services and network changes, leveraging internal and third-party assets and build constraints to deliver resilient, buildable designs. Deliver presales fibre network solutions and cost estimates for connection requests, bids and scope changes, enabling accurate quoting and informed commercial decisions. Monitor and manage fibre network capacity and utilisation, including circuit allocation and the creation of upgrade or rearrangement work orders to meet demand while protecting performance and availability. Design deliverables & compliance Produce and maintain design deliverables and network records—GIS updates, drawings, splice schedules, work orders and as-builts—to ensure accurate construction, smooth handover and longterm traceability. Apply Safety in Design, engineering standards, and policy/contract requirements across all designs to reduce risk, meet regulatory obligations and maintain network integrity. Delivery coordination & incident support Coordinate and provide technical direction to internal teams, contractors and vendors during build and change delivery, resolving design queries and managing dependencies to achieve milestones on time and to quality standards. Provide operational design support for faults, incidents and urgent changes during business hours to restore services and minimise customer impact. Process, systems & tools Identify, prioritise and support the implementation of process, system and technology improvements within planning and design to increase productivity, strengthen data quality and improve customer outcomes.
