Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future. Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer , which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence . Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security We currently have an opportunity for a Land Strategic Advisor in Canberra. What You'll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Provide analytical and coordination support to develop, implement and refine campaign management approaches for The Army Plan, including synchronisation, documentation and reporting. Support development and review of Service ‑ level Strategic Plans , analysing strategic guidance and preparing briefs, recommendations and documentation for Army Board consideration. Produce high ‑ quality briefs and decision ‑ support products , including research and analysis that inform Land Force Design, the Objective Land Force and the Integrated Force. Deliver Future Land Warfare (FLW) decision ‑ support outputs , informing LCD programs and projects in line with endorsed priorities and tasking. Conduct research, analysis, writing and design support , developing conceptual products, Army Plans, functional concepts and providing graphic design/formatting while engaging stakeholders to identify gaps, risks and issues. What You'll Bring Experience in military concepts development , including strong analytical and technical writing skills, with an understanding of the Joint Concepts Framework and Defence Strategy Framework. Knowledge of Defence capability processes , including the Defence Capability Life Cycle or One Defence Capability System, and Defence needs/requirements development. Understanding of Defence finance and procurement principles , particularly as they relate to the Integrated Investment Program and Integrated Capability Assessment. Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in project management and/or systems engineering, supporting structured planning and delivery. High ‑ level proficiency with Microsoft Office , enabling effective documentation, analysis and communication across Defence stakeholders. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
