Overview Future Land Warfare (FLW) leads Army's conceptual thinking, including the development and ongoing refinement of the Land Domain Concept (LDC) as Army's capstone concept. The team also supports refinement of the Land Operating Concept and Concepts of Employment (CONEMP) within the Land Concepts Framework. This role will operate within an integrated team at Army Headquarters, acting as a key link between strategic direction and Army Programs. The position will support concept development, analysis, and delivery of high-quality written and visual products aligned to Army and Joint Concept frameworks. Key Responsibilities Support the development of the Land Concepts forward work plan Contribute to the development and refinement of the Land Domain Concept and Land Operating Concept Develop briefs and decision-support products to support Land Concepts delivery Provide input and support to Land Concept integration into LCD Programs, Projects and/or Products Support broader FLW product development, including Functional Concepts and Concept Thinking Pieces Undertake concept analysis and produce high-quality written outputs Provide graphic support for the development and publication of FLW products Engage with stakeholders to identify risks, issues, and capability gaps Provide specialist advice to working groups and Land Capability Division stakeholders Manage and mitigate obstacles impacting delivery outcomes Collaborate effectively with ADF, APS, and contractor personnel Self-manage workload and deliverables in line with contractual obligations Escalate risks and issues to the Project Manager where required Ensure work remains within scope of contract Required Experience Demonstrated experience in military concepts work, including analysis and writing Understanding of the Joint Concepts Framework Understanding of the Defence Strategy Framework Experience with the Defence Capability Life Cycle or One Defence Capability System Knowledge of Defence needs and requirements development Understanding of Defence finance and procurement processes, including exposure to the Integrated Investment Program (IIP) and Integrated Capability Assessment (ICA) Qualifications or equivalent experience in project management and/or systems engineering Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Ideal Background Experience within Army, Joint, or Defence capability development environments Exposure to force design, strategic planning, or concept development functions Experience supporting capability planning, programs, or investment decisions Strong background in Defence writing, briefing, and stakeholder engagement Key Attributes Strong analytical and conceptual thinking capability High-quality written and verbal communication skills Ability to translate strategic guidance into practical outputs Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills Ability to operate autonomously within a structured Defence environment High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities Additional Information Role is based at Russell Offices, Canberra Candidates must be comfortable working within an integrated Defence team environment Flexibility to work remotely may be required depending on tasking
